Signs it’s Time to Upgrade Your Bathroom Fixtures

Wondering if it’s time to replace your bathroom fixtures? Here are the signs to watch for.

There is Visible Rust

Does your toilet, faucet, or showerhead have visible rust on it? First, try cleaning the rust off. To do this, start by scrubbing the rust with a wet pumice stone and get as much of the rust off that way. Next, remove any lingering rust with a mixture of water, baking soda, and vinegar. Spray the solution directly onto the rusty area and leave it on for at least 15 minutes, then wipe it away with a clean cloth. The rust should wipe right off.

If the rust is too stubborn to remove using this technique, that is a good sign that it’s time to replace your fixture with a new one.

Your Showerhead or Faucet Keeps Dripping

If your bathroom faucet or showerhead is leaky and dripping constantly, it may be time for a new model. In some cases, a dripping showerhead or faucet just requires an easy fix, but if it’s old or damaged you may find that it starts leaking over and over again and is no longer worth repairing. If this sounds familiar, replace that leaky old fixture with a new one. You’ll have better water pressure, reduce your water waste, and you won’t have to hear that annoying dripping noise anymore.

They Don’t Reflect Your Design Style Anymore

Sometimes your bathroom fixtures are still working fine, but they simply do not match with your home decor anymore. As time goes on, our tastes and styles often evolve, and if your bathroom fixtures haven’t evolved with them, they might begin to feel like an eyesore. If you just don’t like the way your fixtures look anymore, it’s time to update them. A new sink, faucet, or showerhead can change the look of a bathroom significantly and modern styles come in a wide selection to suit any tastes, from sleek and streamlined to country cottage chic.
